An invoice generator can make the arithmetic and layout easier, but it cannot determine your GST position. Before issuing anything, identify the actual supplier, recipient, supply, consideration, place of supply, and the statutory rules that apply to the transaction. This is a product walkthrough and checklist, not tax advice.
Collect the source details before you calculate
- Supplier legal name, registered address and GSTIN, checked against the business records you rely on.
- Recipient legal name and billing address, plus recipient GSTIN where applicable.
- Invoice issue date, a document-specific serial policy, each line description, quantity, value, and HSN/SAC information where required.
- The place of supply, applicable GST rate, and whether a CGST/SGST or IGST treatment applies to the actual supply.
- Any reverse-charge, exemption, e-invoicing, e-way-bill, amendment, retention, or filing requirement that applies outside the product.
Use the Business workspace controls carefully
- 1Set the organisation supplier profile in Business settings and use the same recorded GSTIN on the invoice. The application performs a structural format check; it does not query or certify a government GST registration record.
- 2Create the GST-focused invoice from Business → Invoices. Add the parties, invoice lines, place of supply, selected rate, and any relevant HSN/SAC details.
- 3Review the displayed tax split and total against the underlying transaction. Correct inputs before saving rather than treating an automatically calculated amount as a determination.
- 4An owner or admin saves the GST invoice. The server allocates its financial-year serial in the saved record; a member can still prepare an ordinary commercial invoice draft without getting authority to issue a GST record.
- 5Download and retain the final workspace PDF with the related contract, order, delivery, payment, and accounting evidence.
